Bihar State Disaster Management Authority (BSDMA), alongside the Disaster Management Department of the govt. of Bihar, has been taking various initiatives towards awareness generation and capacity building of varied stakeholders and also the affected population. The stress of BSDMA has been towards structural and non-structural strengthening of the system to scale back disaster risks and mitigate their impacts. Safety Weeks (Road Safety, Earthquake Safety, Fire Safety & Flood Safety), training of stakeholders, safe school programs, safe construction guidelines, Free Earthquake Safety Clinic & Centre, the wide circulation of IEC materials, etc. are a number of the important initiatives of the Authority.
